Monday Monday…

With today being Monday, the song “Monday, Monday” is a 1966 hit written by John Phillips and recorded by the Mamas & the Papas.

John Phillips is said to have written the song in 20 minutes. On March 2, 1967, the Mamas & the Papas won a Grammy Award for the song.

The Mamas & the Papas released five studio albums and 17 singles over four years, six of which made the Billboard top 10, and has sold close to 40 million records worldwide. In 2008 the song was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. The Mama’s and the Papa’s had a Canadian connection with band member Denny Doherty together with Cass Elliot, John Phillips, and Michelle Phillips.
