Contrary to popular belief, the biggest consumers of tea are not the British-they are number three on the list. The biggest consumers of tea are actually the country folks of Turkey! Next on the list is Ireland, then the UK and then Pakistan. Canadians rank 22nd on the list. There are over 1500 types of tea in the world with four main types being black tea, green tea, oolong and white tea. Black, green, oolong, dark, and white teas all come from the same plant, a warm-weather evergreen named Camellia sinensis. Differences among the types of tea result from the various degrees of processing and the level of oxidization. With cooler days ahead, nothing beats a good cuppa tea! A gratitude indeed!
