WHAT IS JOBz?
JOBz is a mobile Youth Employment Initiative that aims to assist vulnerable youth in the Foothills region between the ages of 14-24 in obtaining and maintaining employment
WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS
To be involved in the JOBz project, the youth must meet the following criteria:
- Be a resident of Alberta
- Be a citizen or permanent resident of Canada
- 14 to 24 years of age
HOW DOES JOBz HELP YOUTH
A JOBz Youth Employment Success Coach will attend the youth’s school to provide one-on-one assistance following a personalized service plan based on the youth’s needs and desires.
Some areas of coaching may include:
- Distance Career Coaching using Social Media and Technology
- Resume and Cover Letter Development
- Online and In Person Job Applications
- Interview Skills Assistance
- Job Shadowing
- Informational Interviews
- Building Confidence
- Occupational Research
- Secondary Research
- Self Care & Wellness
- Finance Management and Budgeting
- Learning how to disclose disabilities to future employers
HOW MUCH DOES THE JOBz SERVICE COST
The JOBz program is operated by the nonprofit organization Inclusion Foothills. There is no cost for this initiative.
WHAT DOES JOBz INVOLVE?
The JOBz program can be what the youth needs it to be which will mean that the time requirements per youth may vary.
In school appointments will range from 30 minutes to two hours depending on the needs of the youth.
In the appointment the youth will work on creating employment documents, interview skills, self care skills as well as learning how to conduct educational and occupational research.
