Today’s Greatitude

Stick out your Tongue Day-Stroke Awareness

June is Stroke Awareness month and today is stick out your tongue day!

How do the two go together?  In the event of a stroke, the person in distress may need you to BE FAST!  The anachronim stands for:

Balance-is the person dizzy?
E for Eyes-is their vision blurred?
F is for Face-is there drooping or severe headache?
A is for Arms, any lack of strength in either arm?
S is for speech, is the person slurring their words?
T is for time-it is of the essence and the faster you can get help, the faster the chances for a recovery.

Another tip is to have the person stick out their tongue…if it is crooked in appearance, that is another possible symptom.

Greatitudes in spades for the loved ones and  health workers who act quickly to help reverse the aftereffects of strokes.  You can stick out your tongue to anyone who is giving you the gears today in jest or to help a loved one ensure they’re OK!

Maybe a little awareness and a little insolence can go hand in hand if only for today!
