Today’s Greatitude
What does the Easter Bunny have to do with Easter?
The Easter Bunny’s origins are varied and go back centuries, and once you learn how the cute critter became a mascot of the holiest Christian holiday, it all starts to make sense!
The concept of the Easter bunny stems from pagan rituals around the first day of spring – a time of rebirth and renewal.
German writings from the 1600s were reportedly among the first to mention an Easter hare.
Children would sometimes prepare “nests” for the eggs and leave carrots for the hare.
German immigrants are believed to have brought the Easter Bunny tradition to the United States around the 1700s.
History-it’s a fascinating thing to be grateful for today~!
